A Rainy Day With The Dolls...

Oh boy! A rainy day! Lissie, Elizabeth, Julie, Kimi, and Rebecca are spending the day inside. It seems like everyone's having fun, but what's this?

Elizabeth has Strep Throat! Oh no! Looks like this rainy day won't be so fun after all...

Great. Kimi has to go to the store because the girls ran out of soup. Normally, it wouldn't be so bad, but it's pouring out!

Julie accompanies Elizabeth while she eats her snack.

Rebecca is making Elizabeth a get well present-- a pair of pretty tights!

Late in the afternoon, Felicity reads her best friend Meet Kaya. That's one of their favorites!

Lissie, Come Home!

Felicity has come home from the Doll Hospital! I have had her for five years, and her legs have become kind of loose. : ( I am so glad she's home!! Her legs are all better, and she's come in a hospital gown, balloon, a hospital wristband, and a certificate. Her hair is neatly tied in a pretty bow. It's great that she's home!

My I Love Lucy Collection

New Outfits

Here are some new outfits that are for my AG dolls. I thought it was time to post some more pictures, so here they are!

Here is Rebecca in a new-ish outfit. The shirt is from Target, my sewing teacher made the skirt (It's just like the one that Rebecca has in her Hanukkah outfit), and her tights and shoes are from Rebecca's Meet Outfit.

And here is Kimi, modeling a very summery outfit (I know... in the middle of winter!). She is wearing the shirt and shoes that come in the JLY gardening outfit, and then the cargo pants are ones that I made with a Hawaiian print. Also, there are little slits on the bottom with bows on top of them.

So, I hope that everyone has had a nice weekend. Back to school on Monday! -Hal

I Love Lucy Barbies

Now that I have eight I Love Lucy Barbie dolls, I want to give sort of a "synopsis" of each one, just in case anyone wants to get one.

Lucy Does a TV Commercial- Comes in Lucy's plaid dress that she wore in the episode, with an adorable hat and a bottle (of vitametavegemin) and a spoon. As far as I know, this is the only one that has the episode written on the stand.
Lucy Gets in Pictures- Comes in the outfit that Lucy wore in the episode, with a gigantic headdress, bathing-suit type outfit, fishnet tights, and shoes that say Lucy Ricardo on the bottoms, like in the episode.
Lucy's Italian Movie- This one has what I think is the cutest face of all of them. Lucy wears the lacy blouse and dark blue skirt that she wears in Italy, and she has a bunch of grapes that she does not hold, but I just set it down on her stand.
Job Switching- Comes in a grey-and-pink uniform, cute pink high-heels, and has chocolates that she holds in her hand. Also, her hat has chocolates in it!
Sales Resistance- This one comes in the famous polka-dotted dress, black flats, and has a white apron with red rick-rack on it. This is the most traditional of the dolls.
Lucy Gets a Paris Gown- Lucy's face on this one is just precious! She's wearing the oh-so-funny burlap bag, and the horse's feedsack on her head. She wears pearl earrings, a pearl pin, and a clutch with pearls on it.
The Ballet- It's so funny! Lucy is wearing a ballet tutu and ballet slippers. In her hair is a wreath of flowers. Her tights are very sheer, so be careful not to tear them.
LA at Last- This one is my favorite. Lucy wears the beautiful rhinestone-studded housecoat that she wears in the episode. She holds a coffee cup, but you need to keep the plastic on in order for it to stay in her hands. So don't take it off... I almost made that mistake. Her face is the funniest thing! She has huge glasses on, along with a nose made of putty that is "burnt".

American Girl Place Pix!

Here's what everyone's been waiting for: pictures from American Girl Place!! Yaay! I went the other day, and I had a blast seeing everything. I also had a blast taking pictures of everything!

Up above is the picture of the entrance to American Girl Place. It's so huge!
Here's all the GOTY's, not including Chrissa. Sorry it has a little bit of a glare to it; the flash on my camera got in the way.

Here are all the Just Like You dolls. I managed to get this one without much of a glare.

Here's Rebecca's setup. I love the menorah sitting in the window (I'm not sure if you can see it in this photograph.)

Here is Felicity's display. There's a little pineapple on top of the apple decoration, and I have a question: how did they get apples in Willilamsburg, in 1774?

Here is my favorite display: Kaya's. I really like hers because it has the snow. She also has beautiful outfits, but she doesn't have many.

Here is Addy's setup. I liked this one because of the dress. It's so much prettier in person than just on the doll!!

I am so excited to see all of her stuff! I think she is so cute. I like her blond hair, but I think she looks a little too much like Sharpay from High School Musical and I really don't like those movies. Also, why is her bunny on a leash? I find that a bit odd. But enough with the critic-mode.

I absolutely LOVE her dress! At first, I thought she'd be wearing the striped shirt with pants, but the dress is even cuter. Also, her stories sound great! Can't wait 'till the 1st!

Barbie "The Original Teenage Fashion Model"

So, today my mom went to Target while I was in my sewing lesson, and saw the Barbie 50th Anniversary, 1959, doll that I had my eye on. There were only two left, and when my sewing lesson was over, she told me that it was only $20.00 (reduced from $40.00)! So after lunch we ran over to Target and started hunting... finally, stashed on the top shelf, we found her! I am so happy now.

But, I have a dilemma. Should I keep her in the box, because I really like how she's set up, or should I take her out and have her on display in my room? Please comment and give me your opinion!

Christmas

Hello, everyone! I hope you all have had a wonderful Christmas! I certainly did, and here are all of the doll-related things that I got:

First of all, here are two of my (eight) I Love Lucy Barbie dolls. The one on the left I got from Santa, and she's from the episode "LA At Last". The one on my right I got on Christmas Eve from my grandparents, and she is this year's I Love Lucy Barbie doll. She's from the episode "The Ballet". I think they are so cute!

Here is Kimi, the doll that I brought to Christmas Eve with me, opening up Julie's pajamas.

Here is Julie wearing her pajamas. I think this is my favorite PJ set. What's yours?

And, last but not least, here is Kimi posing in front of my grandparents' tree. My grandma has an extensive collection of Christopher Radko (he makes Christmas ornaments) collection, and her tree is beautiful!

I'm reading this book, and it's called Do Hard Things. It's written by two teenagers (but I think they're in their early twenties now) named Alex and Brett Harris. It's about how teenagers are stooping down to meet the low expectations of today's society, and how they're not being prepared for adult life. It teaches you how to live your teenage years to the fullest, and how more and more teenagers are rising above today's low expectations. Guess what?

I got a new camera today! I got it with the money I got for my birthday, and it is REALLY cool! It is a sparkley magenta color (too cute) and it takes wonderful pictures. I am so excited to get my dolls ready for pictures because the camera takes really good ones. I've been testing it out on the television, Trinka (my dog), my sister and mom. Now, its ready for the big job... MY DOLLS! I'll have pictures soon, and they'll be taken with my new camera! I am super excited!!

My Birthday

Yesterday was my birthday, and I got so much stuff! I took pictures of the doll-related things and put them on the blog:

I got Chrissa's Craft Studio. It is so cute! It is much more awesome in person than on the website... believe me! There is a sewing machine (and I love to sew), yarn, knitting needles, pencils, scissors, thread, an organizer, a bowl (that her dad apparently made), a notebook for designing, a pincushion, and a measuring tape.

Here's the sewing machine up close. When you turn it on, the presser foot moves up and down. It is so fun to play with, and I think that all of my dolls are enjoying it already.

I got two Barbie dolls! The one on the left is "Sales Resistance" and Lucy's in her traditional blue and white polka-dotted dress. The one on the right is the one I got for Hanukkah, but I figured I'd put it in anyway, because it is so cute! This one is from "Lucy Gets a Paris Gown". That is my favorite episode!

Talking about Hanukkah, I'll make a post once Hanukkah is over and show all of my doll-related gifts. Also, I wanted to tell everyone about a book I got for my birthday. It's called Do Hard Things and it's a nonfiction book about how teenagers are actually using up the best years of their lives being lazy. I highly recommend this book. It's really good!

Well, I'll tell you!

In December, I celebrate three things: My birthday, Christmas, and Hanukkah. I can't wait for all three! I have a wish list all made up and ready to go for when the days come.
It's supposed to rain all next week. I am so excited, because rain is my favorite kind of weather.
Winter break is coming soon, which means that the FPAfG Gala is coming, too! All the girls can't wait!

Trinka (My Puppy)

Here's Trinka! If you don't know who she is, she's my German Shepherd/Black Lab puppy (well, I guess she isn't a puppy anymore; she turned 2 in September). This is a fairly recent photo of her. I think she looks like a shepherd more than a lab because her ears are up most of the time and she is built less stocky than a labrador. If you are a dog nut (like me) you'll know what I'm talking about. Anyway, here she is! I know that Trinka doesn't have to do anything with dolls, but I thought that it would be nice to post pictures of her. If you want to see more, go under the tag "Not Doll Related". I've done another post about her.

Hello everyone! I can't believe that its been 4 days since my last post, and it is only 1 day until December! It's my favorite month.

Pictures are coming, I can assure you!!! I have so much to take pictures of! The pajama (gala) party, the things I got at my sewing teacher's boutique, the dress that I made for both my doll and me to go to AG place, and all the new stuff I'll be making! : )

Thanks to Doll Diaries (http://www.dolldiaries.com/) I have found a bit of information on AG's Girl of the Year for 2010!! Her name is Lanie and she is an African-American who loves the outdoors. Her books are by Jane Kurtz.

Isn't this exciting? I can't wait to see what she looks like. I hope they do that little puzzle thing on the AG website that reveals her!! Thanks again, Doll Diaries, for showing this information!!

Thanksgiving

Okay... so, we've found the camera battery charger. We've got the camera. We've got the stuff to take pictures of. But we can't find the battery! : (

My dolls, in anticipation of Thanksgiving, each found something to be thankful for.

Lissie: I'm thankful for all of my friends
Elizabeth: I'm thankful for all of my pretty dresses
Julie: I'm thankful for my new scarf, to keep me warm
Kimi: I'm thankful that I'm just like Hal!!
Rebecca: I'm thankful that it's almost winter

So... the FPAfG gala has been changed... to a pajama party! All of the girls are really excited to go and they have already picked out their nicest pajamas.

My I Love Lucy wallet has come! Pictures are on the way (they'll be here as soon as I find the battery for the camera). It is sooo cute! I got it on eBay (www.ebay.com). You can find really cool American Girl, I Love Lucy, and tons of other stuff there.

My sewing teacher's doll boutique has passed, and I got a whole bunch of new stuff. I got a quilt, pillows, a skirt, a hat, and a scarf... all for my dolls. I was so happy when I came home with my bag full of stuff!

Hello, Everyone!

Here are some updates:

I bought an I Love Lucy wallet, and it should be coming in the mail in a couple of days. I am so excited for it to come!!!!
The charger (to charge the battery for my mom's camera) is lost!! I won't be able to post any pictures on the blog until it is found and the battery is charged. : (
The Boutique, held by my sewing teacher, is coming up fast! I am saving up my money to buy a whole bunch of American Girl clothes. I am sooo excited!
The Flower Petal Academy For Girls (That's a really long name, so I call it FPAfG) Gala is coming up soon! I will be there to take pics (if the battery is recharged by then!!)!
My little sister is pretty much ready to read AG books. What book (series) do you think is appropriate for her? I don't want them to be too intense (Like in Meet Kirsten, how her friend dies). I know that I brought this topic up at the beginning of my blog, but now that I have more followers, I thought I would get more feedback. What do you say?

Hi everyone at Dolls, Dolls, and More Dolls! Here are some updates:

The final day in Flower Petal Academy for Girls's first semester is almost here. They will be holding a gala, and I will definitely be there to take pictures of all the girls in their fancy dresses! : )
My sewing teacher's "Boutique" is coming up soon; all of my dolls are looking forward to getting new outfits!
Please vote on my new poll! I want to know if you think that AG will retire any more historical dolls. Also, I am really disappointed that they are retiring Kirsten!

Halloween and More

Hello, everyone! Sorry I haven't posted in a long time. I tried to post some Halloween pictures of my dolls, but they wouldn't work. It may be a while before it does, but don't worry; they're coming!

New Stuff

Guess what? I was at a thrift shop yesterday (looking for some cheap Halloween goodies) and I came across Kit's Pajamas (the blue ones) for... guess how much! $5!!!! I couldn't believe my eyes! There was nothing wrong with them; they were just missing a button on the pants. But who cares when they are so cheap?

Also, I finished my dress (and my doll's, too) yesterday! They are black with a pink ribbon around the waist. They are too cute! I can't wait to wear them to AG Place! I will take pictures of them ASAP.

Trick or Treat!

Hi Everyone! This year for Halloween, I'm going to be a witch! And next year... (I know... I'm already planning for next year!) I'm going to be Lucy (from I Love Lucy) when she wears a feedsack dress. It is going to be so funny! I'm going to buy burlap from a fabric store, and make the dress. I am so excited! What are you going to be for Halloween?

Hey everyone! Kimi here! I just wanted to tell everyone about an 'incident' that happened to me the other day...

I was in the kitchen (in my special apron) and I was attempting to cook a cake. I wanted to surprise everyone at FPAfG! I got everything I needed out- flour, sugar, etc. I poured everything in the mixer and turned it on high. I guess I forgot to read the instructions for that part... the instructions told me to turn it on low, not high! Before I knew it, the wet dough was everywhere! I couldn't believe it. It was such a mess!! So, I spent all day cleaning it up. Everyone else helped me to clean, thankfully. I wouldn't have been able to do it all without them! Afterword, Felicity (an amazing cook) helped me to bake some cookies. They turned out great, and tomorrow I plan to give them to everyone at the FPAfG!

For My Birthday

I know it's really early, seeing my birthday is in December, but I wanted to tell everyone my scheme. I am really excited for it! I decided to go to American Girl Place and have lunch there. I love AG Place, don't you? Anyway, I'm going to make matching dresses for the doll I'll bring- Kimi- and me. I bought some black fabric with grey swirls on it... and I'll spice it up with a pink ribbon to go around the waist. I am so excited!

Really Pretty Doll

A couple of years ago, my great-great-aunt gave this doll to me. Her name is Eliza and she comes with a certificate. You can see it by her feet. I tried to take a picture of it so you all could see it, but it came out blurry. Anyway, here she is. She has little bloomers, bows, tights, and shoes.

New Outfits

Hello everyone! I finally got the camera's battery to be charged, so right away I took some pictures. Here they are:

Here's Kimi, my Just Like You doll. I made the shirt (and got the pants at the AG store) and it was really hard. The pleats were so tiny, they were tough to sew. I think she looks like she is right out of the 50's!

Here's Julie in a very spunky yellow and white polka-dotted tunic. (She came in the pants.) It was really easy to make, and fun, too!

And last but not least is Rebecca. This is the dress she wore for Yom Kippur. I added Felicity's sash (from her summer gown) to finish the outfit. Doesn't she look dazzling?

Yom Kippur

Hi Everyone! It's Rebecca again. Tomorrow is Yom Kippur, the Jewish day of atonement. It is when you acknowlege all of your sins from the past year and "dump" them into a lake. You symbolize them by putting breadcrubs in your pockets and throwing them into the lake. I am going to do that tomorrow with my family and also go to my grandparent's house. I am going to wear the new dress made for me! It is very pretty, 'specially with my hat and boots. I will attach some photos ASAP, but the camera's batteries are all burnt out. : (

I wish eveyone a happy, healthy New Year! Rosh Hashana went extremely well. Everyone loved the caramel, including me!

Hello! This is Rebecca. I wanted to tell everyone about Rosh Hashana, or the Jewish New Year. It's tomorrow, and all of our family is coming over to our house. We're supposed to be eating apples and honey, to represent a sweet new year, but my brother and sisters don't like honey so they substituted the honey with caramel. I think my bubbe would be okay with it because caramel is just as sweet as honey. We're going to have chicken and strawberry lemondade for dinner- yum! Anyway, I wish everyone a happy Rosh Hashana!

Trouble!

Hello everyone! For a change, this is Elizabeth talking. The girls at FPAfG told me to write this because they think that I am the best writer in the class.

Anyway, we all went to the market the other day to buy some cake for a special treat. When we got there, we encountered some very snotty dolls. We had seen them once before a long time ago. We were all hoping never to see them again, but that was not so.

"So, what are YOU doing here?" asked the first one, Kaitlin. Julie thinks that Kaitlin is jealous because we have a website.

"Aren't you supposed to be in school? Or are you to baby-ish to go and learn something?" snickered the second, Jessica.

"Actually," answered Rebecca, "we're going to the Flower Petal Academy for Girls." Kaitlin and Jessica just stood there. They had obviously heard of how wonderful FPAfG is!

"We have to go now..." said Jessica.

"We have more pressing arrangements!" sniffed Kaitlin. The two walked quickly away.

All of us at the Flower Petal Academy for Girls laughed and gave each other high fives. Isn't that kind of exciting? Well, it is for us dolls!

First Day at FPAfG

Today was my dolls first day at Flower Petal Academy for Girls (or FPAfG for short). I got to stay with them to see what they were doing at photograph them. Here's what the classroom looks like:

Felicity, my oldest doll, is the teacher because I have had her for the longest time. For her dress, I took her nightgown and put her holiday skirt over it. And to finish it off, I added a belt from a dress that I got from Michael's.

Here's two of four of the students at FPAfG, Kimi and Rebecca. I forgot to put shoes on either of them! Whoops!

And here are Julie and Elizabeth. You may recognize Julie's dress from an earlier post. I think that they are all ready to learn!

During class, they read, wrote and learned about math and history. Miss Merriman is a wonderful teacher and Lizzie, Julie, Kimi and Beckie are wonderful students! I think they can't wait to go back to their new school tomorrow for another awesome day.

Here they are, saying good bye to Lissie. I think they all had a great time!

Kimi Staying Cool!

Phew! It's been REALLY warm out! Today, I peeked outside and saw Kimi sitting on the grass. I guess she was cooler out there...

She was in her shorts (that I made, by the way) and a tank top. I bet that she was nice and cool in the shade!

It also came with a vest and some purple shoes, but the shoes didn't fit and the climate was too warm to wear the vest.

American Girl at McDonalds

Today (August 14th), McDonalds is releasing their American Girl toys to go along with their Happy Meals! I just purchased the set on Ebay (http://www.ebay.com/) for a fairly good price. I don't know when they're leaving McDonalds, but I doubt it'll be soon. Also, for boys, there are Lego Racers (I thought I'd add that if you have any brothers/cousins/etc. interested). I am so excited!

Saving Up My Money To Buy...

Hi everyone! Guess what? I'm saving up my money to buy my very own camera, so I don't have to use my mom's to take pictures! I used to have a camera, but for some reason, it wouldn't register that it had the batteries in it. It was all very odd. Anyway, I am excited because I can take my new one anywhere and I can take as many pictures with it as I want!

My Puppy

This is my little puppy (well, she isn't so little anymore!) named Trinka! She is almost 2 years old (she was born in September of '07), and about 50 lbs. I love her so much! She is half German Shepherd, and half Black Lab. I know none of this concerns dolls, but I like to tell everyone about her anyway.

These pictures are from when I first met her. I found out about her on http://www.petfinder.com/, which is an animal rescue website. (If you are looking for adopting some kind of animal, or just want to see some really cute dogs, cats, etc., this is the website to check out!) Finally, after what seemed like AGES, we got to meet her in Los Angeles. We didn't have to drive SUPER long, but it sure seemed like we did! Anyway, we met her and fell in love with her. She was so tiny! We adopted her on the spot! After a month (when Trinka was 2 months old), she finally came home to live with us! (According to the rules of the rescue we got her from, she had to be 2 months old for her to come home with us for good.)It was 2 days before Halloween.

Their First Sleepover!

Doll Furniture

The other day, I went to my great-great aunt's house. As a hobby, she designs minature homes and has them all over her office. She gave me a whole box of extra furniture that she wouldn't use. It was enough to create a whole house!

Here is a bird's eye view of the house. She gave everything to me except the table (it's by sister's) and the bed (I made it out of a box). There's a formal living room (top left), a kitchen with a tea set and potholders (top right), a den (bottom left), and a bedroom (bottom right).

Here are Felicity and Elizabeth's dolls. I posed them in the formal living room, which looks kind of colonial.

Here is a doll that my sister got for Christmas. She is from the "Madame Alexander" brand and is a certain type called "Madame Alexander Girlz". She is 18" tall and has a moveable head and plush body. We bought her at Costco during the winter holiday season. She is wearing an American Girl outfit that is currently on sale (but doesn't come with the boots). Just go to americangirl.com and go to "Shop".
